Do you know Jenga?
I am sure you know it.
Jenga is a game created by Leslie Scott where players take turns removing one block at a time from a tower constructed of 54 blocks. Each block removed is added to the top of the tower, creating a taller but less stable structure.
I did not know the name of the game when it came up in a discussion the other day. I did not know the game just by its name. Yes, of course, I know this. It was all clear when I saw it.
What a great image …
to show how we are trying to take out building blocks
< = resources from our current lives >
to build something new on the top of the tower
< = a change we want to apply in our life >
without making the tower collapse
< = breaking the current arrangements >.
Keeping things running while already building up something new. Does this sound familiar? A resource question. Do you have the energy?
Many people decide that this is too much for them. They want to avoid at any cost that the tower collapses.
I fully understand. This is why we stay stuck in situations we hate.
At the same time, it means that nothing will change. Ever. It is a trap.
A very dangerous trap
It leads to stress, frustration, more of stress and frustration, depression or maybe other health issues our bodies start showing screaming that they do not like what we are doing to ourselves. This is what many experts who are thinking holistically state.
My experience confirms this chain of reactions that originate from playing Jenga with my life. I spent too much of my energy leading to my health suffering. And the worst is that it is really hard to come back and restore your health to where it was before.
This is why I sincerely want to encourage you to make a conscious decision for your change and choose a different basis when the current tower becomes too unstable.
Transparency takes courage but it always pays off. In the end.
I am very happy to support you on your pathway of change and happy to answer your questions.
I love to learn new things including new words. In case you wonder: the name Jenga is derived from a Swahili word and means „build“. Perfect name for this game.
